Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs
We are looking for a Millwright Journeyperson to join the Rio Tinto Maintenance Department and provide construction, installation, relocation, repair, and preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facilities for the optimum operating efficiency.

Working and reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be:
- Coordinates Millwright’s function with overall Plant operations.
- Using power and hand equipment, performs varied types of rigging, often at heights which require climbing and the use of safety lines or bos’n chairs.
- Splices hemp and wire rope.
- Diagnoses and repairs all types of equipment, including pumps, elevators, screw conveyors, belting, material handling, crushers, centrifuges, and dryers, etc.
- Performs oxy-acetylene or arc welding to fabricate, install, or repair equipment.
- Determines size and type of welding rod, proper heat application and type of welding required. Performs butt, fillet, horizontal, vertical and overhead welding on plate, structural steel, pipes and machinery.
- Installs, repairs, cleans and replaces pipes and fittings for refrigeration, steam, air, water, ammonia, acid process and other industrial pipe lines.
- Installs, repairs, cleans and replaces domestic water and sewer lines.
- Reads, understands and utilizes information contained in blueprints and drawings related to the installation or repair of equipment.
- Routinely inspects, tests and operates equipment to determine whether it is functioning properly and safely.
- Studies information on new equipment and participates in training related to its maintenance.
- Assists in training less-skilled employees.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Must have one to two years’ experience in metal fabrication, Arc welding, oxygen and acetylene welding
- Experience repairing shovels, pipelines, pumps, crushing and conveying equipment is preferred.
- To qualify for Millwright First Class must be Journeyman Craftsman and have a minimum of four years relevant experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid State Driver’s License
