About the role
We are looking for a Senior Advisor Production Systems to provide technical ownership, support and continuous improvement across a portfolio of technical and mining production systems that enable planning, scheduling, ore tracking and operational reporting across the iron ore value chain.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced, technically minded and solutions-focused professional to play a key role in ensuring critical production systems remain reliable, integrated and aligned with operational requirements. You will work closely with Operations, Projects, Vendors and Technology teams to deliver enhancements, resolve complex issues and support business growth initiatives.
Reporting to the Manager Production Systems and working within a collaborative and technically focused team, you will be:

Acting as the technical owner for a portfolio of technical and mining production systems

Providing technical and business analysis expertise for operational and project initiatives

Driving system enhancements, defect resolution and lifecycle improvements

Working with business stakeholders to understand operational requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Supporting expansion and capital projects through application and integration expertise

Ensuring systems remain reliable, secure and fit for operational use

Maintaining technical knowledge, documentation and support processes across the application portfolio

Supporting incident investigation, root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
-
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
-
Experience supporting technical and mining production systems within the iron ore supply chain
-
Strong understanding of one or more operational domains, such as ore tracking, mine planning, production scheduling, grade control or operational reporting
-
Understanding of application integration across operational technology and corporate IT environments
-
Knowledge of system engineering principles and application lifecycle management
-
Ability to write and troubleshoot basic SQL or PL/SQL queries
-
Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
It will also be beneficial if you have experience with one or more of the following technologies or concepts:

MineStar, Dispatch 5/6, MineCare, PI System/OSIsoft AVEVA PI, Vulcan, slope monitoring systems, visualisation or reporting platforms

Rio Tinto technical systems such as M2S or TPPS
-
Iron ore mining processes and the broader value chain

Ore body and grade management concepts
-
ISA-95 enterprise-control system model
-
Application integration within operational technology environments

Where you will be working
This role is based in Perth, Western Australia, out of our Central Park office, working Monday – Friday, with ad hoc travel to sites in the Pilbara and the Rio Tinto Operations Centre at Perth Airport. We support and encourage flexible working arrangements.
