As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will play a vital role in providing expertise in mine engineering across planning and practices to ensure safe and economically viable mining operations. You will be responsible for tactical and strategic mine planning, design, and scheduling for surface mining operations, contributing to the optimization of production and the management of technical risks.
About Us
Our surface mining team is dedicated to planning, executing, and improving surface mining processes while prioritizing safety and efficiency. We are committed to fostering a collaborative environment where every team member’s contribution is valued, and where professional growth and development are encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will assist in the development of ‘control of excavation’ instructions, fostering safe and economically efficient recovery of ore reserves through close collaboration with technical and operations teams. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining production monitoring and reporting systems, enabling the tracking of mining operations performance and identification of opportunities for enhancing quality and productivity. Additionally, you will play a key role in developing and managing mine development, construction, and production schedules, ensuring seamless integration with short and long-term forecasting systems.
Your responsibilities will also include monitoring variances against the short and medium-term mine schedule, recommending adjustments as needed, and actively participating in technical risk assessments to contribute to the development of procedures aimed at mitigating technical risks. Furthermore, you will occasionally provide informal guidance to new team members to facilitate their onboarding and integration into the team.
What You’ll Bring
Mine Planning Experience: Demonstrated experience in mine planning, design, and scheduling in surface mining operations.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in mining software and tools for mine planning and scheduling.
Problem Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimize production while ensuring safety and economic efficiency.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical and operational teams.
Continuous Improvement: Proactive attitude towards identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
Join us in shaping the future of surface mining operations and making a positive impact on our organization’s success. If you’re passionate about mine engineering and are ready to contribute to safe and economically sustainable mining practices, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
