We are looking for a Superintendent – Operations Center to join the Integrated Planning & Operations Center team at the Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC). This role can be based in Montreal (Québec), Labrador City (NL) or Sept-Iles (Québec) and is on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster in Labrador City. This is a high-visibility role with the opportunity to truly make a difference in IOC’s performance.

Reporting to the Manager – Integrated Planning & Operations Center and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will lead a team of dispatchers and process controllers that remotely operate IOC’s value chain. Through your leadership skills, your ability to influence your peers and your aptitude for data analysis, your responsibilities will include:

Optimizing Flow of Material

• Lead, coach, and develop dispatchers and process controllers to maximize operational efficiency and ensure seamless coordination across all nodes of the value chain
• Analyze and evaluate operational trade-offs, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize throughput and subjugate bottlenecks for end-to-end material flow
• Foster a culture of systems thinking, championing the principles of flow and theory of constraints to drive continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration across the value chain
• Act as cohesive agent of area superintendents

Managing Costs

• Make informed operational decisions that balance material flow with cost efficiency, ensuring every action supports both productivity and fiscal responsibility
• Monitor and manage bulk material consumption, proactively identifying opportunities to reduce waste and optimize resource allocation
• Oversee buffer management strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels, minimize excess, and support cost-effective operations

Prioritizing Quality

• Uphold rigorous quality standards throughout the production process, ensuring final products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality assurance protocols and drive a culture of excellence in every operational activity
• Continuously review and refine processes to identify and address quality gaps, leveraging feedback and data to achieve best-in-class outcomes

• Educational background in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or similar relevant field (preferred)

IOC’s operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway.
