We are looking for a Manager Project Practices & Improvement (Manager Project Services) to act as the centre of excellence for project governance, project management practices, portfolio performance and continuous improvement across Pacific Operations Sustaining Capital.
In this role, you'll lead the systems, frameworks and practices that underpin successful capital delivery, ensuring projects are governed effectively, investments are prioritised appropriately, and portfolio performance is continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the General Manager Sustaining Capital and working across a collaborative network of project and operational teams, you will:
- Lead the governance and assurance framework for the Pacific Operations sustaining capital portfolio
- Influence investment decisions, capital allocation strategies and portfolio optimisation outcomes across Pacific Operations.
- Lead portfolio assurance reviews, project health checks and governance assessments
- Drive compliance with Rio Tinto project standards, project controls requirements and delegated authority frameworks.
- Lead the optimisation of portfolio systems, reporting platforms and digital tools that improve governance, reporting and project delivery performance
- Establish portfolio-wide standards for project data governance, information quality and reporting integrity
- Champion portfolio optimisation and capital efficiency improvement initiatives.
- Develop portfolio performance reporting, executive insights and decision-support analytics.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Pacific Operations Sustaining Capital improvement roadmap, driving step-change improvements in project delivery performance, governance and capital productivity. Govern project systems, portfolio data quality and information management processes.
- Support capital planning, investment prioritisation and portfolio management activities.
- Coach and influence project teams to adopt consistent project management and governance practices.
About you

Required for Success
- A commitment to your own safety and the safety of your team.
- You are a trusted advisor capable of influencing senior leaders, challenging constructively and building capability across diverse project delivery teams
- Leadership experience in project controls, PMO, governance, portfolio management or business improvement environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the delivery of major projects or sustaining capital portfolios.
- Strong understanding of project governance, assurance frameworks, stage-gate processes and capital investment decision-making.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving organisational improvement initiatives.
- Extensive experience in major capital, sustaining capital or infrastructure project environments
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, Business, Commerce or related discipline.
- Proven capability developing portfolio reporting, performance insights and executive-level reporting.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
Helpful for Success
- Experience working within mining, resources, infrastructure or heavy industrial environments.
- Knowledge of Power BI, portfolio management systems and data analytics tools.
- Experience leading continuous improvement or transformation programs.
- Understanding of portfolio optimisation, capital performance and investment governance.
