About the role

We are looking for a Principal Advisor Mining & NPI to lead and manage the design and implementation of global project operational/closure readiness processes, practices and tools. 

You will be part of the Operational Readiness team that goes above and beyond to successfully integrate safe and high-performing assets that exceed business expectations, contributing to a safely operable, maintainable, and reliable project result. 

Reporting to the Manager Central Operational Readiness you will: 

• Provides expert technical support and direction to project stakeholders
• Provide governance over operational readiness performance for projects globally.
• Co-ordination of OR reviews in collaboration with the OR planning and scheduling advisor, and RT Projects
• Provide innovative solutions and processes to enable optimisation, simplification and consistency within PMO Operational Readiness
• Improve operational readiness processes by applying lessons learned and collaborating on business improvement practices
• Responsible for governance and setting standards for operational readiness training, safety compliance, scheduling and productivity
• Analyse and report on operational readiness activities to maximise productivity while minimising cost and environmental impact
• Provide technical oversight and governance to support the operational readiness program so operations meet ramp up, planned sale ore product (SOP) and total material movement (TMM) extraction rates
• Executes risk and assurance responsibilities defined in the Rio Tinto Risk Management standard
• Proactively maintain currency for discipline knowledge

What you’ll bring

• Knowledge of NPI assets’ operating philosophy and requirements on site
• Knowledge of Operational requirement preparation for project handover
• Well-developed knowledge of surface mining operations and supporting processes
• Site-based experience in a leadership capacity in mining operations, mine technical services or functional partner
• Knowledge of project management (scoping, planning, scheduling, resource planning, and cost estimation) and project site activities
• Experience as member of a small to medium-sized project’s management team
• Understanding of organisational change management and familiarity with RTIO’s Management of Change (MoC) system
• Exposure to risk management and business improvement methodologies
• Well-developed people influencing, engagement and communication skills
• Capability to write conclusive reports and create documents presenting requirements and developed plans, strategies and approaches
• Proven ability in safety leadership in the mining or relevant industry
• A Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver's License. (Manual)

Qualifications:

• Tertiary degree in a relevant field, for example, Project Management, Engineering or Geology
