About the role
We are looking for a Refinery Industrial Electrician (Electrical Craftsperson) to safely inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical assets and systems that are essential to reliable refinery operations. Working within our maintenance and work management framework, you will complete planned and corrective maintenance while providing clear feedback on equipment condition and performance.
This is a hands-on opportunity to apply your technical knowledge, solve equipment challenges and contribute to a team that values safety, collaboration and quality workmanship.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working within the Refinery Maintenance Team, you will:
What you’ll be doing
- Perform planned, preventive and corrective electrical maintenance in accordance with approved work orders, job instructions and safety requirements.
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution equipment, controls and operating systems to support safe and reliable production.
- Safely isolate electrical systems and verify the absence of voltage, including 13.8 kV distribution, 480 V distribution and control systems, 120/208 V lighting and control systems, and low-voltage controls and instrumentation.
- Identify equipment defects and emerging risks, document accurate findings in the asset management system and escalate issues when required.
- Complete post-maintenance testing and commissioning to confirm equipment is safe, functional and ready to return to service.
- Support defect elimination, failure analysis and asset tactics reviews by sharing practical maintenance and equipment performance insights.
- Coordinate with operations, planners, supervisors and other trades to complete work safely and minimize operational disruption.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas while contributing to continuous improvement in safety, reliability and maintenance execution.

Required for Success
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team, with the discipline to follow electrical isolation, permitting and safe work requirements.
- A recognized electrical trade qualification, completed apprenticeship or equivalent credential required for industrial electrical work in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Practical experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and systems in an industrial, mining, manufacturing or similar operating environment.
- The ability to interpret electrical drawings, work instructions and technical information and apply sound fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to provide clear and accurate maintenance feedback to relevant stakeholders.
Helpful for Success
- Experience using computerized maintenance or asset management systems to document work and equipment condition.
- A valid driver’s license, if required for the work location.

Where you’ll be working
Our Kennecott operation is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining and processing operation located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah. It includes a concentrator, smelter and refinery and produces copper, gold, silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the Bingham Canyon ore body since 1903 and contributes approximately 11 percent of annual U.S. copper production.
