We are looking for a Maintenance Planner within the accountable area of Asset Management Concentrator & Tailings to ensure all weekly maintenance activities are planned and including scheduling in a manner that maximizes the efficiency of the assigned maintenance teams and equipment as defined by Rio Tinto Asset Management to improve the overall safety, integrity, and performance of IOC assets.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Asset Management Concentrator & Tailings, and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will:

• Ensure critical risks are identified in the planning process with appropriate controls accounted for so the work can be performed safely and effectively.
• Lead the maintenance planning and scheduling for all mechanical processing equipment, related to the maintaining of this area. Mechanical infrastructure such as Pumps, Cyclones, Conveyor Belts, Mills, Piping, etc. This includes the validation of work plans, work description, time estimates, proper SAP coding, parts ordering, staging plans, required tooling and resources required for the work.
• Create, print, and communicate weekly work schedules, including maintenance, operational and project tasks.
• Create, maintain, and optimize the maintenance program for all routine tasks, including planning partners for instrumentation, electrical & operations support.
• Participate in defect elimination process, business improvement projects, RCM, and PMO review activities related to the area of responsibility.
• Collaborate with execution teams on schedule alignment.
• Ensure work orders for accountable area are prioritized, fully planned with all resources, materials and specialized tooling identified with assignment of appropriate status
• Review work in the required schedule period taking into consideration (Asset criticality, statutory work, warranty, repairable/rotable, severity and safety impact) inclusive of project maintenance work
• Participate in monthly cost reviews, (planned spend versus actual spend; escalate any major variance of actual vs plan and identify opportunities to realign spend vs budget). Annual budgeting for following year maintenance
• Apply shutdown management best practices and scheduling shipping of repairable items and track them until they return to site.

What you’ll bring​

• Minimum of 3 years experience in mining, heavy industrial, processing, manufacturing or related setting
• Demonstrated in depth planning and scheduling knowledge using a CMMS system – SAP preferred
• Ability to multitask and organize work with a strong attention to details
• Good communication skills with team leading personality
• Computer literacy – Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Project), SAP, Prometheus
• Previous experience with processing equipment maintenance would be considered an asset
• Journeyperson trade or technical education is an asset

IOC’s operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.  We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles. ​
