We are looking for a Manager Network Engineering who will focus on ensuring the efficient and innovative operation of our network platforms. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader to lead and provide technical direction to products and platforms teams for corporate and operational technology environments. In this role, you will contribute to transforming our network platforms' capabilities and performance, enhancing our security posture, and delivering reliable network platforms.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Network Platforms and working in a collaborative and supportive environment. The Manager Network Engineer ensures the solution meets network standards and aligns with business priority and value delivery.
About the role

Strategy and Architecture: Provide input to the network platforms' strategy, develop and maintain the technical roadmap, and provide strategic direction on new technologies with alignment to business requirements

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders (Business Partners and Business) to deliver business values and outcomes.

Automation and Efficiency: Implementing automation tools and processes to streamline operations, reduce manual intervention, and improve overall efficiency.

Network Design and Implementation: Overseeing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of network platforms to meet organisational requirements, performance, security, and compliance

Standards and Patterns: develop and enforce network standards and design patterns across corporate and Operational Technology to ensure consistency and best practices.

Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities for improving processes and platforms to enhance operational efficiency of the network

Vendor and Partner Collaboration: Working closely with technology vendors and partners to stay abreast of the latest advancements in network technology. Leveraging these relationships to bring innovative solutions and best practices into the organization.

Innovation Leadership: Fostering a culture of innovation within the network engineering team. Encouraging team members to explore new ideas, experiment with emerging technologies, and develop innovative solutions to network challenges

Compliance and Security: Ensuring the network complies with relevant standards and regulations, and implementing security measures to protect the network
What you’ll bring
Leadership

Provide leadership in managing the demand from the business for Information Services and Technology products and services.

Ability to guide establishment of relevant processes and services for Rio Tinto and ensure consistent delivery of these services.

Collaborates and work with business leaders and strategy peers in managing business strategy implementation within the relevant discipline.

Assists in the establishment of strategic programme initiatives within the relevant discipline and develop action and resource plans to achieve desired outcomes.
Delivery and Governance

Service Delivery: Ensure the effective delivery of network engineering services, adhering to established guidelines, architecture, and frameworks.

Governance: Oversee governance processes to maintain compliance with standards and policies.
Industry exposure
-
Broad experience across heavy industry in network engineering.

Successful track record in managing medium to large scale greenfield projects related to network architecture, design, and implementation.
Global Project Support

Delivery Management: Provide support to global network projects, ensuring alignment with 2025 roadmap.

Backlog Management: Manage project backlogs, prioritise tasks and track outcomes to ensure timely delivery.
Education and Certification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.

Industry-recognised certifications are highly valued.
Communication and Collaboration

Exceptional communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Ability to collaborate with operations teams for handovers and support on complex issues, translating this to business goals and action plans that deliver business change results for Rio Tinto.
