We are seeking Specialists Business Improvement to join our Operational Excellence team within the Central Shutdown Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to driving continuous improvement and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of shutdown execution across our operations.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the shutdown process at a strategic level, supporting site-based teams in optimising transitions from ramp-down to full production. You will play a key role in developing and embedding best practices, analysing shutdown performance, and driving continuous improvement supporting site based team members to ensure shutdowns are executed safely and efficiently.

You’ll be part of a high performing team, supported by your leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work Monday-Friday in Perth and travel on an ad hoc basis to various sites in the Pilbara, which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life. 

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Productivity, you will:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support & enhance site shutdown execution

• Identify and implement best practices to enhance shutdown productivity

• Develop and maintain key performance metrics to track progress and drive continuous improvement.

• Engage with key stakeholders both centrally and site-based to ensure alignment with business objectives

• Provide appropriate coaching, mentoring and technical support to the operations

• Facilitate and implement high value business improvement projects using LEAN tools

• Support, sustain and refine Rio Tinto’s Safe Production System deployment

• Undertake KPI and trend analysis to support the delivery of business improvement initiatives

• Support and coach shutdown team members to achieve waste elimination, process excellence, safety improvements and other business improvement opportunities

What you’ll bring

• Experience working collaboratively and effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders

• Exhibit a continuous improvement mindset with a focus on delivering tangible business outcomes

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skill.

• An engaging leadership style that can influence and uplift teams through strategic advisory and coaching

• Hold relevant qualifications in business improvement, engineering, asset management, project management, or leadership experience in fixed plant or maintenance mining areas (preferred but not essential)
