Oversee the electrical scope for Order of Magnitude, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, and Implementation stages of underground mining projects. Provide guidance and technical leadership on electrical power safety, standards, design, installation and commissioning related matters for electrical equipment on capital projects. Provide the subject matter expertise for the complexities of executing electrical projects in underground and brownfield environments. Specific skills and experience in underground production infrastructure such as automated hoisting systems, underground High Voltage (HV) distribution systems and non-process infrastructure such as underground fuel storage systems, explosives storage facilities and heavy equipment workshops. Have strong multidisciplinary awareness and understanding particularly in Electrical, instrumentation, controls, IT and telecommunication fields. Functional Safety CFSP(Certified Functional Safety Professional) qualification and experience with design, operation, and maintenance of Functional Safety systems is highly desirable. Provide project governance and ensure company Project Management Framework is applied. Review and assesses project timelines and cost, report on project resourcing to the Manager to ensure project delivery in a timely manner. Implements, refines, and improves project delivery methods and standards. Ensure compliance with standardized project processes, systems, and tools across projects. Manage project vendors including performance against contract deliverables. Provide detailed review and feedback on engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with Rio Tinto safety and quality requirements. Ensure effective stakeholder engagement across projects. Monitor, manage and report all relevant project performance indicators to meet business requirements. Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation, and improvement.
Telecommuting permitted up to 5% per week.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering or a related field and 10 years of work experience. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, employer will accept an additional 2 years of
related work experience.
Of the required experience, must have 10 years of experience in all of the following:
- Experience in Electrical Engineering & Project Management;
- Experience working on underground mining scopes (either project or operations);
- Experience with QA/QC systems with ability to develop ITP’s, ITR’s and Field Inspection Checklists;
- Supervising and managing EIC construction, commissioning, and maintenance scopes of works;
- Design, operation, and maintenance of typical underground equipment – ventilation systems, dewatering systems, crushing, and conveying, electrical distribution, diesel back up power
systems, UG radio and Wi-Fi networks; - Experience with underground development power reticulation;
- Application of IEC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI SANS 10142, NFPA 70E electrical standards;
- Experience in HAZID/HAZOP/CHAZOP/Risk Assessment/FMEA, Bowties and Engineering Design Review processes.
Of the required experience, must have 8 years of experience in all of the following:
- Design, operation and maintenance of shaft hoisting equipment and systems.
- Applying Ontario, MSHA, SANS, ISO and SA MHSA Hoisting Regulations;
- AUTOCAD electrical drafting;
- Experience & Exposure writing, commissioning and troubleshooting PLC program codes-ABB 800xa, ABB 500xa, ABB Automation Builder, Rockwell Automation RSLogix 5000, Studio
5000.
Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in all of the following:
- Applying functional safety & process safety standards; and
- Knowledge of IEC 61508, IEC 62061 & ISO 26262.
Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience in all of the following:
- Experience with Underground Battery Electric Vehicles and Charging Stations.
Certifications:
- Functional Safety Practitioner (FSP) from TUV or EXIDA; and
- Electrician Certificate.
