We are seeking a Principal Adviser Organisational Change Management to join our IS&T function and support the Chapter Lead, OCM in shaping, embedding, and scaling a high-impact, globally consistent OCM operating model. This is a leadership role for a seasoned change practitioner who has built enterprise change functions in large, matrixed organisations and understands the complexity of enabling change at scale.

Shape and implement the enterprise OCM framework, standards, and governance aligned to Rio Tinto’s best operator objectives.

Architect and operationalise a change delivery model that integrates seamlessly across project portfolios, functions, and geographies.

Lead capability uplift programs globally, embedding change leadership into the DNA of the organisation.

Build and manage a global community of change professionals, networks, and communities of practice.

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives on enterprise risk, readiness, and change strategy.

Ensure enterprise visibility and impact of OCM by embedding robust measures, feedback loops, and reporting mechanisms.

Partner across Rio Tinto’s transformation ecosystem—including strategy, platforms, business partnering, and external vendors.

Lead and guide change activities across a portfolio of high-impact global initiatives aligned with Rio Tinto’s transformation priorities.

Develop and embed OCM strategies, frameworks, and tools that support enterprise change readiness and business outcomes.

Build capability across global teams through coaching, mentoring and delivering change education programs.
-
Create and support change networks across business units, platforms, and project teams.
-
Drive stakeholder engagement and manage complex change impacts across organisational layers.

Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including delivery partners and vendors, to ensure aligned and integrated change efforts.

Deliver thought leadership and contribute to the continuous development of the OCM Chapter and community.
What you'll bring:

Extensive enterprise change experience (12+ years) within large, complex, and matrixed global organisations of comparable scale to Rio Tinto.

Proven track record in designing, embedding, and scaling change management functions, not just delivering project-based change.

Bring an enterprise-wide perspective with strong strategic foresight, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence at the executive a level.

Advanced credentials in leading change methodologies (e.g., PROSCI, Agile, Lean, organisational psychology) and applies them in dynamic and high-stakes transformation contexts.

Demonstrated ability to architect, operationalise, and lead sustainable change capability across geographies, business functions, and delivery models.

Strong leadership, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through ambiguity and complexity.

Adept at managing competing priorities and complex stakeholder landscapes, while maintaining autonomy, resilience, and high performance in fast-paced environments.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to influence, coach, and build trusted relationships across all organisational levels.

Curious and innovative mindset challenges conventional thinking respectfully, navigates resistance effectively, and adapts approaches to drive continuous improvement.
