About the role:

As a crane supervisor, you’ll be hands-on and at the forefront of daily site crane operations — leading team of National crane operators and riggers, overseeing the training/VOC and development of National crane drivers and riggers, ensuring every lift is performed in accordance with Simandou crane and rigging standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership to a developing team of national crane operators and Riggers

• Key person in providing hands on training in crane operations and rigging

• Inspect scope of works to determine selection of correct equipment, skilled personnel is available

• Complete detailed lift studies and coordinate site activities

• Lead and facilitate pre-starts, toolbox meetings, and on-site safety observations

• Source lifting equipment and manage site crane logistics

• Deliver operational plans with a practical, team-oriented approach

• Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures

• Subject matter expert for all site crane and lifting operations

What You’ll Bring:

• Minimum 10 years Proven experience supervising crane operations on a mine site environment, or other documented relevant experience

• Hold a valid Crane Operator Ticket, C0 classification

• Strong leadership and communication skills, with a safety-first mindset

• Proven experience in training and mentoring of existing and new crane operators

• Ability to manage shutdowns, construction and or maintenance works preferred

• Solid understanding of hazard management and incident response

• Perform lift operations as per operational requirements.

• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and policies.

• A proactive attitude, excellent time management, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks

• Relevant high-risk licences in Crane Operations and Rigging

Must Have:
 

• Hold a valid Crane Operator Ticket, C0 Minimum

• Minimum 10 years' experience operating up to 300t cranes.

• Experience in operating Liebherr 150T, 300t, Grove 100RT cranes

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Rigger.

• HR License (desirable). 

• Strong focus on safety and commitment to best practices.

• Ability to work on a remote mine site setting on international FIFO roster.

About the Simandou Project
The Simandou Iron Ore Project is located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. It is Africa’s largest infrastructure and mining project and represents one of the largest known reserves of high-grade iron ore in the world.

Rio Tinto holds rights to Simandou Blocks 3 and 4 through SimFer, a joint venture between the Government of the Republic of Guinea, Rio Tinto and Chalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH). Construction of the mine, together with the associated rail and port infrastructure, is well underway with first production from the SimFer mine expected in 2025.
