About the role

We are looking for an Asset Strategy Specialist to be part of our Underground Mobile Maintenance Team. This unique role focuses on the development and implementation of a world-class asset integrity program, specifically for underground mobile assets. You will provide leadership to a group of professionals and be responsible for driving the asset integrity program and helping to ensure that the Underground fleet achieves the optimal balance between productivity, cost, and risk.

Reporting to the Principal Mobile Engineering, FIFO roster to Oyu Tolgoi Mine Site, you will be:

• Leading a team of national workforce advisors and inspectors, guiding the team in best practices in mobile equipment asset integrity.
• Providing content expertise on Mobile equipment specifications and regulatory compliance.
• Developing capability within the National professional workforce to sustain the asset integrity program into the future.
• Be able to solve complex problems by working closely with technicians, engineers and other subject matter experts.
• Develop collaborative working relationships with various RioTinto Centre of excellence, product group teams, and vendor partners to gain broader business context and to facilitate collaborative success.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for improvement. Implement and support Rio Tinto best practices.

What you will bring

• Degrees or diplomas in Mechanical Engineering discipline
• At least 8 years working in Reliability engineering and Asset management in Mining Maintenance Environment
• Demonstrated experience in leading the implementation of maintenance improvement processes (RCA, FMECA) and delivery of projects
• Experience in improving life cycle cost of underground equipment
• Facilitating Asset Management Assessments for the maintenance function and lead subsequent actions to close out experience
• Line leadership experience in a mining maintenance function
• International work experience with exposures in training and developing locals
• Work and living experience in developing countries with strong cultural awareness would be beneficial

Where you’ll be working

Oyu Tolgoi is an operating Copper / Gold open pit mine with a brownfields underground mining project. The site is located in the Gobi Desert region of Mongolia. The reserves case for the underground project is in the order of 0.5 billion tonnes of ore to be mined from the 95,000 tonnes per day Hugo North Lift 1 (HNL1) panel cave mine with a 20-year operations life. There is also the potential for 3 further block cave districts to increase mine life beyond 100 years.
