About the role

We are looking for a Procurement professional who will support Operations at Simandou in Guinea. Must be able to provide broad end to end procurement support to management, customers, team, and strategic business partners to drive best practice and meeting our global standards whilst providing pragmatic solutions in a project environment and implementing Category Strategies and Contracts in preparation for ongoing Operations.  The role will require an exceptional stakeholder engagement skillset and a superior ability to lead and influence whilst maintaining the highest of Procurement standards and compliance.

You will be responsible for the following:

• Lead a team of procurement professionals focused on Category Strategies and Contracts (both pre and post award) supporting the needs of the business.
• Establish strategic relations with the highest level of external stakeholders in order to optimise procurement outcomes
• Interface with key internal stakeholders to understand their needs and offer pragmatic solutions in support of the company’s objectives
• Ensure stakeholders both internally and externally are actively engaged during the delivery, implementation and ongoing management of sourcing projects and contract management activities
• Work with end users and the relevant functional teams to ensure Local Content and LOA considerations are fully taken into account
• Continually improving functional capabilities in order to deliver best total value outcomes for Simfer. This includes staying current on best practices (procurement, portfolio and category) and proactively looking to increase the velocity of delivery through optimised and technology enabled processes while strengthening controls.
• Engage with broader Procurement organisation to drive best practice
• Create solutions that maintain a balance with regards to people, goals, methods, policies and procedures
• Provides direction and supervision to teams of procurement/ supply chain employees to align with RT global procurement standards and practices
• Conduct S2C activities as required to deliver on business needs

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• 10+ – years’ experience in Procurement, Project Management or related field
• Degree or Diploma in related field (Procurement, Commerce, Legal, Finance)
• In depth understanding of  Procurement and Project Management methodologies and practices.
• Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated experience leading complex contract negotiations
• Sound knowledge of procurement, strategic sourcing and category management
• Demonstrated experience in leadership roles.
• Interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across all spectrums of the Group
• Proficient in English and French
• Computer literate in Microsoft suite of software
• SAP and Ariba experience would be advantageous
• Experience working within a multi-cultural environment

About the Simandou Project
The Simandou Iron Ore Project is located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. It is Africa’s largest infrastructure and mining project and represents one of the largest known reserves of high-grade iron ore in the world.

Rio Tinto holds rights to Simandou Blocks 3 and 4 through SimFer, a joint venture between the Government of the Republic of Guinea, Rio Tinto and Chalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH). Construction of the mine, together with the associated rail and port infrastructure, is well underway with first production from the SimFer mine expected in 2025.
