About the role
We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Negotiator for Agreement development to join our Traditional Owner Partnership team here within Iron Ore. This is a great opportunity to lead the development of co-management and partnering based agreements with Traditional Owner groups.
Reporting to the Manager Agreement Modernisation, you will:

Work with Traditional Owners develop and execute plans for future agreements in co-management and partnering

Work collaboratively with broader internal teams on approaches to support genuine partnerships with Indigenous peoples and communities while aligning with future asset development pathway needs

Take approaches and strategies through review process with internal stakeholders to ensure they are developed consistent with relevant commitments, regulatory frameworks, standards and leading practices in partnership development

Engage with Traditional Owner stakeholder groups to understand community objectives, long term goals and other key aspirations

Conduct retrospective reviews of engagements and agreement delivery with key stakeholders to inform future approaches

Build and manage relationships across Traditional Owner Partnership (TOP), Health Safety Environment and Communities (HSEC), Rio Tinto Iron Ore and Rio Tinto ensuring effective communication and collaboration

Maintain a comprehensive perspective Traditional Owner engagement and Heritage Management within Iron Ore and identifying opportunities, risks, issues and growth areas to evaluate overarching themes and inform strategic decisions

Experience working with Traditional Owners / Indigenous groups, in relationship management or community engagement capacity

Demonstrated experience in shaping and delivering strategies, working through a networked organisation in achieving results.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – ability to build networks with a wide range of people, ability to influence and build consensus

This role is based in Perth, at our head office in Central Park, and working Monday to Friday.

We are one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of iron ore.
