About the role
We are looking for Mechanical maintainers to safely maintain and improve our track machines assets from Tampers, Regulators and Mobile Flash Butts. These machines are an integral part of the track maintenance division at Rio Tinto.
You will play a key role in identifying defects and providing feedback on asset performance and health through our asset management system, actively raising notifications and completing work orders. Additionally, you will support the defect elimination process and contribute to work management analysis and asset tactics reviews to enhance overall asset performance. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring that work management activities are executed in accordance with job instructions and undertaking post-maintenance equipment commissioning and clean-up.

With roles based in our workshop in Dampier we offer a lifestyle and roster to suit you. The roles are offered both FIFO and residential offering a family friendly 8 days on 6 days off all day shift roster
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

A strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team

Current manual ‘C’ Class Driver’s License
-
Heavy Duty Diesel Trade certificate – Mechanical or Fitting
-
Excellent communication skills, and proven ability to interact with all levels of personnel.

Strong background in mobile mining or rail equipment repairs and maintenance
-
Able to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
-
Sound understanding of hydraulic principles
Highly desirable if you have the following:

HR Drivers License

RTIO inductions

Previous rail experience on Plasser – Tampers Regulators, Vaia Car – Welders

Knowledge of computer programs including SAP

Where you will be working
Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 16 mines across the Pilbara via 1,800km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Dampier (7 Mile), West Angelas, Cape Lambert and Gudai-Darri each train is operated by our state of the art AutoHaul system and comprises of three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network and value input from our employees to improve our asset and the way we operate.
Our network is the largest privately owned and operated heavy haul rail system in Australia, and as we focus on the future, our vision is to become the greatest heavy haul railway in the world.
Where you will be Living – for our residential Dampier team
Our Dampier workshop is on the door step of the The Dampier Archipelago – 42 islands, all within a 45-kilometre radius of Dampier and Karratha – has exceptional natural beauty, high conservation values and outstanding heritage values. Added to the close proximity of our inland national parks such as Karijini. There is some for everyone to enjoy and explore.
With a population of approximately 25 thousand people Karratha provides multiple shopping precincts and schooling options for the family based team members. The city also provided many sporting options for all ages. To name a few, Netball, Soccer, AFL, BMX, Go Karting, Motocross, Swimming, Surf lifesaving, Bowls, Sport shooters association.
