About the role

We are searching for a Machine Shop Supervisor to provide clear direction and leadership to a group of multi-skilled tradespeople. You will be responsible for supervising tasks associated within the Rail Maintenance Automated machine shop.

This role is a great opportunity to be involved in an exciting, fast paced area of our expanding business. The successful applicant will have strong leadership and well-developed communication skills to work within a dynamic environment. Working 3 days on, 3 nights on, 6 off roster and reporting to the Plant and Automation Superintendent, you will be:

• Managing and supervising a maintenance team, including team leadership, performance management, safety performance, workflow management and task execution

• Fostering the development of collaborative stakeholder relationships and interfacing with other maintenance, engineering and internal and external teams

• Driving and promoting a strong safety culture and zero harm approach through safety leadership

• Using SAP and Rio Tinto workflow management principles to execute planned maintenance activities

• Working closely with planners in identifying, planning and scheduling scopes of work, assisting in the organisation of tooling and parts and ensuring adequate resourcing to run the shop.

• Ensuring shutdown activities are completed safely and meeting the shutdown schedule, respecting the critical path and deadlines

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• A manual C Class Driver's Licence

• Experience in Automation or related technology

• A relevant Electrical or Mechanical Trade Qualification

• Previous experience in a shutdown coordination / supervision role

• Strong maintenance leadership and contractor workforce management experience

• Previous experience in performance management, incident investigations and safety leadership

• The ability to make important decisions relatively quickly during high pressure situations

• Strong team member with excellent communication skills

• Exposure to work management process and SAP

It will also be beneficial if you have one or more of the following:

• Mechatronics or Industrial Automation qualifications

• Certificate IV in Front Line Management or similar

• Previous rail industry experience

• Graduate Certificate / Diploma of Asset and Maintenance management

Where you will be working

Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 15 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile), each train is operated by a single driver and comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.
