About the role
We have an exciting role available for a part-time Specialist Occupational Health to join our dynamic and diverse Iron Ore HSEC group. In this role you will support the strategic delivery of occupational health risk reduction projects to support legislative compliance and improved health risk outcomes for all RTIO assets. You will also provide SME support and guidance to Operational Delivery HSEC and RTIO Operational and functional teams.
As the Specialist Occupational Health, you will pride yourself as a Subject Matter Expert in Occupational Health and Psychosocial Risk Management. You will report to the Principal Advisor Exposure Risk and have responsibility and ownership over the following duties :

Lead risk reduction improvement work across RTIO assets to ensure compliance to legislative and RT health standards

Recommend key control methods (considering the hierarchy of control) for health risk reduction and evaluate control effectiveness

Advising on legislative and industry standard requirements as they relate to occupational health

Support the development and maintenance of internal RTIO Occupational health procedures and guidance documentation to ensure compliance with RT H4 Standard, legislative requirements

Support the delivery of risk reduction and improvement initiatives linked to the 5-year HSEC Plan and Mentally Healthy Iron Ore Strategy

Support the development and maintenance of internal RTIO Occupational health procedures and guidance documentation related to the application of evidence based continuous improvement opportunities
-
Collaborate closely with industry partners and internal/external stakeholders regarding best practice occupational health programs and management of health risk

Provision of SME advice to the business with respect to the H4 Fitness for Work in Safety Critical Role Standard, including but not limited to psychosocial risk management, fatigue, and fitness for work

Support HSEC OD with first party assurance against the Rio Tinto H4 standard

Actively foster a culture of continuous improvement by monitoring emerging health risks and implementing improvement initiatives

Support professional development activities for H&S personnel working in HSEC Operational Delivery teams (i.e.: community of practice) to uplift capability and knowledge of health risk management

Provide subject matter expertise to operational teams during critical health events (e.g. suicide postvention response)

Provide central governance of the Iron Ore Peer Support Program

Support HSEC OD with coordination and delivery of ad hoc health and wellbeing initiatives

Provide input into annual and legislative reporting related to H4 Standard

Provide subject matter expertise related to psychosocial incident internal and external reporting and investigation
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

Tertiary qualified in allied health or a related science field

5-10 years Technical experience in Occupational Health or Corporate Health management

Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

Excellent communication skills

Consulting and advising (leaders and peers)

Excellent collaboration, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

Robust project management skills and demonstrated experience
