About the role

You will work with a dedicated team to deliver programmed track maintenance works across the RTIO Rail Network. Previous leadership experience and technical knowledge in turnouts, track renewals, and track construction, along with Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure, are preferred.

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will:

• Coordinate with Asset Assurance Engineers, planners, and contractors to ensure adherence to maintenance plans

• Manage SAP work processes including:

• Reviewing and approving work scopes

• Ensuring QA/QC compliance and documentation (e.g., clip-up temperatures, track acceptance forms)

• Time confirmations and raising notifications for follow-up works

• Closing out work orders and managing capacity

• Oversee delivery of maintenance works to RTIO standards, including:

• Replacement of turnout components (stock rail, blades, frogs)

• Ballast and sleeper replacement and renewals

• IRJ replacement and minor track renewals

• Conduct daily pre-start and coordination meetings

• Ensure effective use of allocated track obstructions

• Identify risks and implement solutions to achieve milestones

• Provide guidance, training, and coaching to staff and contractor partners

• Ensure compliance with safety processes and standards through in-field verifications, safety interactions, and risk assessments

• Perform site audits and inspections of work areas, laydown areas, and vehicles

• Collaborate with planners and schedulers to ensure correct track obstruction submissions and authority limits

What you will need for this role

• Leadership experience in rail maintenance or construction

• Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure (preferred)

• Strong understanding of track renewals and turnout maintenance

• Ability to manage SAP work management processes

• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
