About the role

Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Utilities Asset Management team is looking to for a skilled Specialist Engineer Water who will be responsible for covering Asset Integrity and Improvement, Reliability Engineering, Breakdown and Maintenance Support and Project delivery for our Hydrocarbons Water and Wastewater Assets.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Hydrocarbons Water and Wastewater, accountabilities for the position will include :

• Ensure HSE framework, CRM, Field time, High Risk Tasks is a central focus every project everyday
• Ensure WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 and compliance with relevant legislation, including statutory obligations
• Proactively coordinate and support work on Fuel and Water Assets managing your Contractors as an extended part of our team
• Managing Asset Condition Monitoring Plan
• Manage Water Quality ensuring quick response time with follow up on longer term corrective actions
• Manage prioritization of breakdowns & emerging work based on business needs
• SME Representative for your Area in both Hydrocarbons & Water & Wastewater Disciplines
• Safely manage assigned project portfolio (critical asset upgrades) for the current year, on time and on budget
• Provide technical support while managing inspections including API653, Tank, Pipeline , Water Source Protection, Bore fields, Backflow prevention, meter proving, WWTP’s, Water and Sewer pump stations, Water Treatment Plants, SDU’s, Bio Max Systems, Spray Fields, Landfarms, Fuel and Lube facilities, Jet A1, OWS’s, Viva Fuel Facilities, Beatle Winches, Marine Loading Arms
• Support Compliance and annual Government Reporting

This permanent position will be based in Rio Tinto’s Operations Centre located near the Perth Airport working Monday to Friday with flexible working arrangements and will require ad hoc site travel. 

What you’ll bring

• Mechanical or other Engineering qualification
• Project management qualification
• Previous experience leading teams and/or HSE leadership experience
• Solid working knowledge of Fuel and Water & Wastewater Systems including, R/O UV, Chlorination, Filtration – framework, systems, policies, standards and practices
• Good Knowledge of systems such as SAP, Critical Orders, Warranty, and Work Management
• Leading coaching, and develop Project Supervisors – Complete Contractor Performance Reviews

Where you’ll be working

This role will be based at our Operations Centre in Perth. This role is offered on a 5 days on, 2 days off weekly roster, with flexibility where required.

Our integrated iron ore network is supported by our Operations Centre (OC) in Perth, a state-of-the-art facility that enables all the autonomous trucks, trains and drills at our mines, ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location. The Centre incorporates visualisation and collaboration tools to provide real-time information across our demand chain and allows us to optimise our mining, maintenance and logistic activities across the Pilbara in a way never before possible. Located near the Perth domestic airport, the OC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to coordinate our integrated network of mines, rail, and ports from 1,500km away.
