About the role
Rio Tinto Mining Commercial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (“RTMC”) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rio Tinto Group, one of the world’s leading mining companies. Established in June 2019 in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, RTMC aims to enhance proximity to the Chinese market, provide better services to small- and medium-sized steel mills, and conduct iron ore portside trading activities across Chinese ports.
The Product Services team is responsible for managing portside operations, cargo logistics, and bonded warehouse activities across China. Acting on behalf of upstream marketing entities, the team coordinates vessel berthing, oversees cargo processing and inventory management, engages port operators and service providers, and ensures the efficient and timely delivery of products to customers. Leveraging its extensive expertise in portside operations, the Product Services team plays a critical role in enhancing supply chain efficiency, operational resilience, and market responsiveness for Rio Tinto.
With the development of the Simandou project, portside production will expand from traditional blending and screening to include tertiary crushing, introducing more complex operating models and significantly larger volumes. This evolution requires strengthened capabilities in operational management, cargo safety, and inventory control, as well as enhanced oversight of HSE performance across port operators and service providers. The Product Services team will play a pivotal role in ensuring that operations are conducted in a safe, efficient, quality-assured, and compliant manner, supporting the successful ramp-up and sustained performance of Simandou supply chains.
The Specialist Product Services role will provide operational and commercial support to the Product Services team, contributing to the effective delivery of portside operations and supply chain activities. Working under the guidance of the Manager Product Services, the role will coordinate stakeholder engagement, support contract administration, monitor operational performance, and assist in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, helping ensure the successful ramp-up and long-term performance of Simandou supply chains.
