About the role
New Zealand Aluminium Smelters (NZAS) is seeking two trade‑qualified Electrical Maintainers to join our Casting & Logistics Maintenance team.
We have opportunities available on shift work and a 9‑day, 80‑hour fortnight roster.
Your focus will be on planned and unplanned maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across a wide range of electrical equipment. You’ll follow structured maintenance and defect elimination processes to optimise preventative maintenance performance and minimise costs.
Safety is our number one priority. Every task is performed safely, with the right tools, systems and support to do the job right.
Reporting directly to a Supervisor and indirectly to a Superintendent, you’ll work in a close‑knit team where your problem‑solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement will make a real impact.
You will be:

Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across casting and logistics assets

Diagnosing faults and performing repairs to minimise equipment downtime

Supporting defect elimination and continuous improvement initiatives

Following maintenance strategies, procedures and safety systems

Contributing to reliable plant performance through high‑quality workmanship

Working collaboratively with supervisors, planners and maintenance team members
About you

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

Trade‑qualified Electrical Maintainer (EWRB registered or working towards)
-
Experience in electrical maintenance, diagnostics and fault finding
-
Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
-
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
