About the role
We are looking for an Electrical and Control Systems Engineer to join our inclusive and diverse Maintenance Planning & Engineering (MP&E) Team. This unique role will allow you to ensure the safety, reliability and performance of Fixed Plant electrical, control system, and instrumentation assets here at Rio Tinto.
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to build technical capability and practical experience while working within established procedures and under the guidance of experienced engineers.
Reporting to the MP&E Engineering Superintendent, you will be:

Minimizing business interruptions by providing engineering support for escalated electrical, control system, network, and instrumentation faults

Providing technical guidance and oversight for complex instrumentation, control systems, and electrical asset maintenance work to maintenance, operations, project, and commercial teams

Executing programs of work to optimize asset management for electrical assets

Reviewing Management of Change for site assets, including control system and process control assets

Leading capital projects for electrical, control system, and instrumentation upgrades

Coordinating with central E&C Engineering and act as the point of escalation for complex control system and electrical asset fault diagnosis and recovery

Monitoring and maintaining advanced control system schemes
About you
-
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
-
Knowledge and experience in electrical engineering and process control disciplines and at least 3 years of industry experience
-
Previous site experience within a mining or port environment in a control system support role.

Operational experience and proficiency with Schneider PLCs and Citect SCADA systems would be beneficial.

Knowledge of Reliability Engineering and Asset Management practices

Knowledge of the following areas : Electrical Safety, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, VSDs, UPSs, HVAC, Motors, Cabling, Instrumentation, Earthing, Functional Safety, Arc Flash, Electrical Protection, Legislation, Regulations, Electrical Australian Standards, Control Systems, HMI, Process Control

Where you’ll be working
This role is offered on 8 days on, 6 days off family friendly roster, FIFO from Perth to Western Turner 2 (Part of the Great Tom Price Operations). Western Turner Syncline 2 is located about 35 km north-west of Tom Price in the Pilbara. It’s part of Rio Tinto’s Greater Tom Price operations and is accessible via fly-in fly-out. The site offers a great opportunity to work in the stunning Pilbara landscape while being part of a supportive and safety-focused team.
