About the role
We are seeking an experienced IS&T Manager to lead the transition and long-term development of the Borates IS&T function as the business moves towards standalone operation.
This role offers a rare opportunity to help shape the future technology landscape of a major industrial operation during a significant business transformation. Working closely with Finance, Operations, Site Leadership and separation teams, you will oversee the development of a standalone IS&T environment covering infrastructure, applications, cyber security, digital capability, vendor management and enterprise systems.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer you will:
- Lead the transition of IS&T capability from a global shared-services model into a fit-for-purpose standalone structure supporting operational performance and future growth.
- Partner with business leadership and separation teams to support Day-1 readiness across infrastructure, applications, ERP systems, cyber security, vendor management and service delivery.
- Work alongside a well-established separation program supported by dedicated Rio Tinto IS&T leadership, external transition teams, helping shape and operationalize the future technology environment while leveraging significant existing program support.
- Oversee and develop a growing IS&T organization of >10 employees across site support, infrastructure, applications, reporting, analytics and digital capability.
- Support ERP transition and future ERP implementation activity, working closely with system integrators, vendors and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are fit for purpose within a standalone industrial business environment.
- Lead the review and rationalization of applications and systems currently operating within a large enterprise environment, helping determine which technologies should be retained, simplified, replaced or retired.
- Manage external technology vendors and service providers, ensuring appropriate support models, service levels, governance and operational continuity.
- Translate operational and commercial business requirements into practical technology solutions, digital priorities and long-term IS&T roadmap initiatives.
- Support cyber security strategy, operational technology risk management and governance activities across the standalone business.
- Build strong relationships across the Boron operation, working closely with site-based teams to understand operational processes and improve system effectiveness, reliability and user support.
- Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery across the IS&T function.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Significant IS&T, IT leadership, technology business partnering or program delivery experience within industrial, manufacturing, mining, aerospace, logistics, energy, chemicals or similarly operational environments.
- Strong ERP implementation or ERP transformation experience, ideally across multiple ERP environments or large business systems transitions.
- A broad technical and commercial understanding across infrastructure, enterprise applications, cyber security, vendor management, reporting and digital systems.
- Experience leading technology transformation, carve-out, integration, separation or large-scale operational change initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across operational, technical and executive leadership teams.
- Experience managing third-party technology providers, outsourced services and system integrators.
- Strong leadership capability, including experience building, developing and mentoring technical teams within fast-moving operational environments.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution during periods of transformation and change.
- A practical and collaborative leadership style with the ability to operate effectively within a site-based industrial environment.
- Mining experience is beneficial but not essential. Experience within heavy industry, aerospace, manufacturing, logistics or asset-intensive businesses would be highly relevant.
- US work authorization is required.
- Ability to work on site in Boron, California approximately two days per week. Relocation is not being offered.
