About the role
China represents the largest market for both Rio Tinto Group and Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO). Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) is part of the Rio Tinto Group and comprises developments and operations in Australia, North America and Africa. Rio Tinto Iron Ore is a leading global supplier of iron ore, and iron ore concentrates.
RTIO China Team manages daily customer communication with customers on implement of company’s sales policy, ensuring contract performance, providing market information to help management work out sales strategy.
RTIO North China team is in charge of customer accounts in north China. We are now seeking one Superintendent Iron Ore North China to support North China Team in daily customer engagement.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Iron Ore North China, you will:

Support the Senior Manager North China to implement the agreed RTIO marketing strategy within the relevant market area.

Lead the team to maximize the customers’ contract execution and performance.

Plan and execute sales and marketing initiative and project.

Participate in the development of customers and marketing solutions.

Identify and fulfil the needs of current and potential customers in each relevant market area.

Build and maintain an effective relationship with industry bodies.

Explore and collect market intelligence and provide in-depth and comprehensive market analysis report for senior management.

Contribute the proven insights on Chinese Steel Industry from a macro-economic perspective and the key indicators influencing the supply/demand for raw materials.

Comply with applicable government regulations, professional standards and Rio Tinto policies.

Responsible for coordinating senior-level visits to key customers, which includes planning schedules, itineraries, and agendas; arranging logistics; preparing meeting briefs; and delivering travel notes in a timely manner.

Manage team knowledge level, identify areas of growth and development where possible, and nurture a performance-driven sales and marketing culture.

Assist the north China Senior Manager to implement agreed customer relationship plans, to ensure excellence in the execution of approved contracts and to maximize the value of RTIO’s contractual relationships in the Chinese market;

Implement the RTIO approved products segmentation and contract strategy to facilitate the projected growth in sales volumes;

Manage accountable customer relationships and contract performance, including carrying out and facilitate cooperative projects in a timely manner;

Explore and identify potential opportunities in conjunction with Technical Marketing for a larger sales volume with new and existing customers;

Deliver thorough market insights to management, serving as a valuable reference for the development of sales policies and the planning of product strategies.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

Bachelor’s degree or above, majored in marketing, economics, finance, geosciences or engineering,

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills,

Good team player with fundamental leadership skills,

Sense of innovation on new approaches,

Skills in handling rapidly changing business environment and readily challenges assumptions,

Ability to connect and liaise with a diverse range of people,

Ability to handle pressure and frequent travels,

Intensive understanding of steel industry, mining and/or international trading field is preferred,

8 years’ related sales or trading experience minimum
-
Experience in an analytical role,
-
Fluency in Mandarin and English.
