About the role
We are looking for an Inspector Access Roads to inspect access roads supporting rail maintenance and identify safety, availability and condition risks that could affect maintenance access. Reporting to the Supervisor Inspection, you will provide practical field information that helps civil, earthworks, planning and operations teams prioritise road maintenance and remediation. This is an opportunity to strengthen rail corridor access, improve maintenance readiness and build expertise across a varied civil infrastructure network.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Supervisor Inspection and working with inspection, civil, earthworks, planning, operations and rail maintenance teams, you will be:

Conduct scheduled inspections of rail access roads, tracks, crossings, drainage, signage, laydown areas and supporting infrastructure.

Identify and document erosion, ponding, washouts, surface degradation, drainage restrictions and access hazards.

Assess how road conditions affect safe maintenance access, emergency response, equipment movement and operational readiness.

Escalate critical access risks, unsafe road conditions and environmental issues within required timeframes.

Complete inspection records, photographs, defect notifications, measurements and priority recommendations in required systems.

Provide field input to access road maintenance scopes, prioritisation decisions and remediation plans.

Verify completed maintenance work for quality, drainage performance and restoration of safe access.

Partner with civil, earthworks, planning and operations teams to improve safety, reliability, productivity and work quality.

Experience: Demonstrated experience in access road, civil, earthworks or infrastructure inspection within a safety-critical operating environment.

Skills and Capabilities: Knowledge of road condition defects, drainage issues, erosion control and maintenance requirements.

Skills and Capabilities: Ability to assess access risks affecting vehicle movement, maintenance readiness and emergency response.

Systems: Experience using inspection systems, SAP notifications or equivalent tools to record defects, evidence and inspection outcomes.

Skills and Capabilities: Ability to prepare clear field observations, photographs, documentation and risk escalations for maintenance planning.

Qualifications: Relevant competency, licence or verification of competency required to conduct field inspections safely in the rail corridor.

Experience interpreting road maintenance scopes, civil standards or remediation requirements.

Understanding of rail access requirements, environmental controls and critical risk management.

We operate over 220 locomotives on nearly 2,000 kilometres of track in the Pilbara, transporting ore from 18 mines to four port terminals.
