About the role
We are looking for a Maintainer Mechanical to help the maintenance team keep rolling stock and utilities assets safe, reliable and available. Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance, you will complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections and repairs while working to Rio Tinto maintenance standards and site procedures. This is a great opportunity for a qualified mechanical or plumbing tradesperson who enjoys practical problem-solving, varied maintenance work and contributing to safe operational performance.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance and working with maintenance, operations and support teams, you will:
• Complete preventative and corrective maintenance on rolling stock, utilities and associated equipment.
• Inspect fixed plant and mechanical assets, identify defects and determine appropriate repair actions.
• Isolate equipment safely for maintenance and operational tasks in line with site procedures.
• Use SAP or a similar maintenance management system to record, assign and complete maintenance tasks to the required standard.
• Arrange suitable equipment, materials and resources to support planned maintenance outcomes.
• Report asset condition issues, emerging risks and opportunities to improve team practices and procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities that strengthen safety, reduce risk and improve cost and reliability outcomes.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, original equipment manufacturers, contractors and suppliers to complete work effectively.

Required for Success
• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• A Mechanical or Plumbing trade qualification.
• A current C Class manual driver’s license.
• Practical experience completing preventative and corrective maintenance in mining, utilities, fixed plant, rolling stock or another safety-critical industrial environment.
• Experience applying isolation, inspection and maintenance procedures to deliver safe, high-quality work.
• Basic understanding of SAP maintenance systems or a similar computerised maintenance management system.
Helpful for Success
• A heavy rigid driver’s license.
• Certificate III in Water Operations and chlorine handling training.
• Relevant high-risk work licenses such as crane, forklift, work platform or dogging and rigging.

Tom Price is located in the central Pilbara region, west of Karijini National Park and is our original Pilbara mine, currently employing residential and fly-in fly-out employees. It is known as one of the most attractive towns in the Pilbara with a high school, two primary schools, a hospital and a high standard of recreational facilities.
