Nous sommes à la recherche d’un(e) Conseiller(ère) principal(e), Approvisionnement en énergie pour soutenir l’équipe mondiale de l’énergie renouvelable au sein de l’Approvisionnement mondial dans la mise en œuvre de solutions énergétiques compétitives pour les actifs opérationnels et de développement de Rio Tinto.
Relevant du Gestionnaire principal, Énergie renouvelable mondiale, vous dirigerez la structuration commerciale, l’approvisionnement, la négociation et l’exécution de transactions liées à l’énergie à travers l’Amérique latine, tout en apportant votre soutien à d’autres marchés internationaux lorsque requis.
Le portefeuille comprend des projets solaires, éoliens, de stockage d’énergie par batteries (BESS), de microréseaux hybrides ainsi que des solutions d’alimentation par réseau électrique. Vous élaborerez des stratégies d’approvisionnement en énergie, piloterez des processus d’appel à la concurrence et structurerez des contrats d’achat d’électricité (PPA) et des contrats virtuels d’achat d’électricité (VPPA), tant sur site qu’hors site.
En collaboration avec des parties prenantes internes et externes, vous apporterez votre expertise en intelligence de marché, en analyse commerciale et en négociation afin d’identifier des solutions équilibrant les coûts, les risques, la sécurité de l’approvisionnement et les objectifs de décarbonation.
Il s’agit d’une occasion unique de contribuer à des transactions stratégiques dans le domaine des énergies renouvelables, d’influencer les pratiques mondiales d’approvisionnement et de soutenir d’autres initiatives énergétiques, notamment dans les domaines du gaz naturel, du diesel et des infrastructures associées.
Ce que vous ferez
- Élaborer et mettre en œuvre des stratégies d’approvisionnement en énergie pour le portefeuille de Rio Tinto en Amérique latine, en tenant compte des besoins des actifs et des objectifs énergétiques globaux.
- Diriger les processus de mise en marché et d’approvisionnement concurrentiel, y compris les appels d’offres (RFP) et demandes de prix (RFQ), de la stratégie jusqu’à l’évaluation et à la recommandation.
- Évaluer les opportunités liées à l’énergie solaire, éolienne, au stockage par batteries, aux microréseaux hybrides et aux solutions d’alimentation réseau pour les actifs opérationnels et en développement.
- Structurer et négocier des PPA, VPPA et autres ententes d’approvisionnement énergétique, tout en soutenant les processus internes de gouvernance et d’approbation.
- Préparer des analyses de marché, des évaluations financières et commerciales ainsi que des dossiers d’affaires permettant d’équilibrer les coûts, les risques, la sécurité énergétique et les objectifs de décarbonation.
- Établir des relations constructives avec les développeurs, services publics, fournisseurs d’énergie et conseillers, tout en collaborant avec les équipes Actifs, Affaires juridiques, Secrétariat corporatif, Trésorerie et Énergie et climat.
- Assurer une veille des marchés de l’électricité, des évolutions réglementaires et des solutions d’approvisionnement émergentes en Amérique latine afin d’identifier des possibilités d’amélioration des coûts énergétiques, de la performance carbone et de la flexibilité du portefeuille.
- Contribuer aux cadres mondiaux d’approvisionnement en énergie et soutenir au besoin des projets internationaux liés à l’électricité, au gaz naturel, au diesel et aux infrastructures énergétiques connexes.

Exigences essentielles

- Expérience démontrée dans la conduite de négociations commerciales et la gestion de parties prenantes internes et externes complexes.
- Solides compétences en modélisation financière, analyse commerciale et élaboration de dossiers d’affaires, avec la capacité d’expliquer clairement des concepts complexes.
- Diplôme en administration, commerce, économie, génie, énergie ou dans un domaine connexe, ou expérience équivalente pertinente.
- Excellentes aptitudes de communication écrite et verbale en anglais et en espagnol.

About the role
We are looking for a Principal Adviser, Power Procurement to help the Global Renewable Power team within Global Procurement deliver commercially competitive energy solutions for Rio Tinto’s operating and development assets. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Renewable Power, you will lead the commercial structuring, procurement, negotiation and execution of power transactions across Latin America, while supporting other international markets as required.
The portfolio includes solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hybrid microgrids and grid supply solutions. You will develop power procurement strategies, lead competitive sourcing processes, and structure onsite and offsite Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs). Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will bring market intelligence, commercial analysis and negotiation leadership to opportunities that balance cost, risk, supply security and decarbonisation objectives.
This is an opportunity to influence high-value renewable energy transactions, contribute to global procurement practices and support broader energy initiatives, including natural gas, diesel and associated infrastructure, when required.
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and execute power procurement strategies across Rio Tinto’s Latin American portfolio in line with asset requirements and broader energy objectives.
- Lead market engagement and competitive sourcing processes, including requests for proposal and requests for quotation, from strategy through evaluation and recommendation.
- Evaluate solar, wind, battery energy storage, hybrid microgrid and grid supply opportunities for operating and development assets.
- Structure and negotiate onsite and offsite PPAs, VPPAs and other energy supply arrangements, and support internal governance and approval processes.
- Prepare market assessments, financial analyses, commercial evaluations and business cases that balance cost, risk, supply security and decarbonisation outcomes.
- Build productive relationships with developers, utilities, energy suppliers and advisors, while collaborating with Assets, Legal, Company Secretariat, Treasury, and Energy & Climate teams.
- Monitor power markets, regulatory developments and emerging procurement solutions across Latin America, identifying opportunities to improve energy cost, carbon outcomes and portfolio flexibility.
- Contribute to global power procurement frameworks and support international power opportunities, natural gas, diesel and associated energy infrastructure initiatives as required.

Required for Success

- Demonstrated experience in renewable energy procurement, power markets, energy contracting or commercial structuring in a complex asset or corporate environment.
- Strong working knowledge of PPAs, VPPAs, renewable project development and energy-market fundamentals, including solar, wind and battery energy storage solutions.
- Demonstrated experience leading commercial negotiations and working with complex internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Financial modelling, commercial analysis and business case development capability, with the ability to communicate complex commercial concepts clearly.
- A qualification in business, commerce, economics, engineering, energy or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience, together with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.

- Understanding of electricity markets, decarbonisation pathways and corporate renewable energy procurement strategies.
- Experience with natural gas, diesel, fuels or broader energy commodities and associated infrastructure.
