- Take hands-on ownership of SAP BW/4HANA reporting deliverables within Rio Tinto’s Modern ERP transformation, helping critical reports continue to operate as the business to S/4HANA.
- Apply deep BW/4HANA development expertise across build, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect resolution, go-live and hypercare in a large-scale global program.
- 12+ month engagement based from our Perth or Brisbane Hub.
We’re Finding Better Ways™ to provide materials the world needs, now and in the future. Our values – care, courage and curiosity – guide how we work and how we treat each other.
About the role
We are looking for a hands-on SAP BW/4HANA Consultant / Developer to join the Modern ERP Reporting & Analytics stream. Internally aligned to the Senior Adviser Reporting and Analytics position. You will own defined data modules and groups of reports, remediating existing reporting so it remains effective as the business transitions to S/4HANA.
Working alongside internal specialists, business stakeholders and our systems integration partner, you will combine deep BW/4HANA development capability with an understanding of the business context behind reporting requirements. The role will contribute through build, testing, defect management, go-live and hypercare.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Manager Reporting and Analytics and working within the Modern ERP Reporting & Analytics stream, you will be:
- Design, build, configure, test and remediate SAP BW/4HANA reporting solutions as reporting transitions from ECC6 to S/4HANA.
- Own defined data modules and groups of reports end to end, translating business requirements into workable functional and technical designs and delivering to agreed quality expectations.
- Analyse existing reports and data dependencies to maintain critical reporting through a brownfield S/4HANA transition, including legacy and new-system data integration considerations.
- Develop sustainable and performant BW/4HANA data models and reporting solutions, considering large historical data volumes, data optimisation and reporting performance.
- Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect investigation and resolution, go-live readiness and hypercare activities.
- Apply technical depth across SAP BW/4HANA, native HANA and relevant SAP ECC business processes to identify delivery risks, resolve issues and improve solution quality.
- Work closely with business users, business analysts, project managers, internal technology teams and the systems integration partner to validate requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose reporting outcomes.
- Provide constructive technical challenge and quality review across broader delivery while remaining accountable for your own hands-on development deliverables.
About you
We’re looking for someone whose experience aligns with the key requirements below. You do not need to meet every “helpful for success” item to apply – if you bring relevant experience and are excited by the opportunity, we encourage you to submit an application.
Required for Success
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
- Demonstrated hands-on SAP BW/4HANA development experience, including designing, building, configuring, testing and remediating enterprise reporting solutions.
- Experience delivering reporting solutions within SAP S/4HANA environments, ideally through a brownfield ECC to S/4HANA transformation involving legacy and new-system data.
- Strong SAP HANA data modelling and solution design capability, with practical experience managing performance and optimisation for large data volumes.
- Ability to translate business requirements into functional and technical solutions and independently own reporting deliverables through build, testing, defect resolution and implementation.
- Experience working in large, complex project or program environments with business stakeholders, technology teams and external delivery partners.
Helpful for Success
- Experience with procurement, materials or services reporting and data, including purchase orders, inventory, source-to-contract or procure-to-pay processes.
- Native SAP HANA development and ABAP experience, including exposure to LSA++, authorisation roles and performance-tuning techniques.
- Experience with Analysis for Office and hybrid native HANA / BW modelling approaches.
- Power BI experience using BW and HANA data.
- Experience in mining, resources or another large-scale industrial environment.
- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
What we offer
- Be recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you’ve helped the world progress
- Attractive compensation that is aligned to the specialist nature and impact of the role
- Flexible working arrangements
- A safety-focused and inclusive working environment
- Career development to further your ambitions
- Ongoing individual wellbeing support
- Flexible working arrangements
- Be part of Rio Tinto’s global Modern ERP transformation, contributing directly to one of the organisation’s most significant multi‑year programs
- High‑impact contract role where your expertise helps shape the future of Planning & Reporting across a global enterprise
Where you’ll be working
