About the role

We are looking for a Business Analyst – Copper Growth & Development to help the Copper Product Group deliver its growth and investment agenda. In this role, you will provide high-quality commercial, financial and strategic analysis that supports acquisitions, partnerships, divestments, organic growth projects and broader portfolio initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex commercial problems, working in live transaction environments and influencing senior investment decisions across a global portfolio.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance and Business Analysis and working within the Copper Product Group, you will:

• Provide financial modelling, valuation and commercial analysis for transactions and growth opportunities.
• Evaluate business development opportunities using market, industry, commercial and financial information.
• Build and maintain business cases for acquisitions, partnerships, divestments and organic growth projects.
• Support due diligence activities and challenge commercial, financial, tax, funding and valuation assumptions.
• Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to identify value drivers, risks and opportunities for value creation.
• Maintain consolidated Product Group valuation models and support portfolio analysis activities.
• Lead the analytical and financial content of investment submissions, reviews and governance processes.
• Prepare materials supporting Product Group, Investment Committee and Board-level decision making.

Required for Success

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• Skills and Capabilities: 8 years + experience in advanced financial modelling, valuation and analytical capability, including discounted cash flow (DCF), scenario analysis and sensitivity modelling.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience supporting business development, M&A, corporate development, transaction advisory, investment evaluation or related commercial activities.
• Experience: Ability to interpret complex commercial structures, challenge assumptions and provide decision-useful recommendations in fast-paced environments.
• Qualifications: Degree qualification in finance, economics, commerce, business, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Systems: Strong capability with financial modelling tools, spreadsheet-based analysis and preparation of senior leadership materials.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI and advanced analytical tools to accelerate research, interrogate complex datasets, test hypotheses and generate decision-useful insights, with sound judgement over the quality, limitations and appropriate application of outputs.

Helpful for Success

• Experience within mining, resources, investment banking, private equity or a comparable capital-intensive industry.
• Exposure to transaction due diligence, investment committee processes or board-level submissions.
• Experience collaborating across finance, tax, treasury, strategy and operational stakeholders in a global organisation.

Where you’ll be working

Our global headquarters is situated in St. James’s Square, in the City of Westminster, London, on the edge of the West End, and is the site of the group’s original head office.  Located over several floors, the office is truly a global hub for the business and is the base for many members of the Executive Committee.  As such, the grade II listed office reflects the vibrancy of the location, although it also overlooks the tranquillity of the only garden square in the district and is a short walk from Green Park and Piccadilly underground stations.
