Training Supervisor – Fixed Plant Operations

About the role
The Training Supervisor role is a key resource for developing, promoting, delivering, and implementing training initiatives and programs at Boron Operations. This role actively participates in activities related to various training programs, as well as organizes, conducts, and delivers training programs for competency-based employee development, departmental orientations, MSHA and OSHA compliance, and competency-based on-the-job trainings.
The ideal candidate will have the unique ability to (a) create and administer a technical training program from beginning to end, (b) competence and confidence as a leader of the electrical training, and (c) the ability to define training opportunities and recommend solutions for improvement.
Accountabilities include:
- Map out annual training plans for Operations Management.
- Deliver employee training and instruction.
- Develop competency assessments and assess employees to those competencies.
- Design, develop, and manage training programs (outsourced and/or in-house).
- Select appropriate training methods or activities (e.g. simulations, mentoring, classroom, on-the-job training, and/or professional development courses).
- Market available training to employees and provide necessary information about scheduled training courses, including the planning and booking of employees into these courses.
- Assist in planning and delivery of technical, professional, and compliance training. Examples include Equipment-Specific, MSHA Annual Refresher and OSHA Compliance, as well as RTMS Element 6 compliance and Professional Development trainings.
- Conduct Training Needs Analysis and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed, including recurring and expiring qualifications.
- Build courses using proper Instructional Design techniques.
- Use known education principles and stay up-to-date on new training methods and techniques.
- Design, prepare and order educational aids and materials.
- Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills, competencies, and KPIs.
- Gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each educational session.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and liaise with experts regarding instructional Design.
- Maintain updated curriculum database and training records.
- Coordinate vendor-delivered trainings.
- Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment.
- Research and recommend new training methods.
What you’ll bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of Federal and State safety and health requirements (MSHA/OSHA).
- Experience working in an Industrial Process Plant environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills.
- MSHA, Surface Unlimited Instructor Card is desirable, but will train employees for certification.
- Training in Instructional Design and Needs Analysis is beneficial. Knowledge and application of Critical Resource Management Program is desirable
- Experience with training and development programs.
- Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training events in an industrial setting.
- Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation.
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
- Experience with the ADDIE Training Cycle (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation).
- Understanding of competency-based training.
- Required to possess the MSHA Surface Unlimited Instructor certification.
- Familiarity with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques.
- Experience with e-learning platforms.
- Ability to effectively deliver training to individuals and groups.
- Proficiency in MS Office, e-learning development programs, and audio/video production.
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strength in public speaking with the ability to connect with learners.
