About the role
We are looking for a Shutdown Advisor who brings both technical expertise and strategic thinking to the table. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping how maintenance shutdowns are planned and executed, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability are always front of mind. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing outcomes, and working closely with cross-functional teams in a dynamic operational environment.
You will be part of a team that values continuous improvement, where your insights help to refine processes and elevate performance across the site. With access to global best practices and tools, you will have the opportunity to grow your expertise while making a tangible impact on how work gets done.
In this role, you start your day reviewing a well-structured shutdown schedule, collaborating with maintenance, operations, and technical teams to confirm alignment. You identify opportunities to optimize resources, adjust plans proactively, and ensure safety controls are clearly defined. By the end of the day, your plan is precise, risks are mitigated, and the team is set up for a smooth and efficient shutdown execution.
Some days bring competing priorities, tight timelines, or evolving risks that require immediate attention. You lean on your planning expertise and collaboration skills to realign schedules, manage constraints, and ensure safe execution remains the top priority. Through it all, your resilience and problem-solving mindset help keep the team on track.
Working closely with and guided by the Lead, Shutdown Management, you will be supported by prioritizing safety, strengthening planning practices, and continuously improving how we execute shutdown work. In this role, you will:
- Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring all shutdown plans prioritize the health, safety, and wellbeing of everyone involved
- Optimize planned and unplanned downtime to improve equipment reliability and reduce operational risk
- Develop and maintain accurate, detailed schedules that align resources and activities within approved timeframes
- Provide clear forecasts, risk assessments, and scenario planning insights to support balanced decision-making
- Strengthen governance and compliance by supporting high-quality planning standards and processes
- Enhance communication and execution through centralized planning data and effective version control
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across maintenance, operations, and engineering
- Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities across shutdown planning and execution
What you’ll bring
- A demonstrated commitment to safety and a proactive approach to protecting yourself and others
- A relevant technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience in a related field
- Proven experience in maintenance planning within industrial, mining, or similar environments
- Familiarity with asset management and scheduling tools such as SAP, Maximo, Primavera P6, or MS Project
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams
- Solid understanding of maintenance work management processes and best practices
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including post-shutdown reviews and lessons learned
- A collaborative mindset with a drive to solve problems, improve processes, and deliver results
What we offer
- Recognition for your contributions, ideas, and commitment, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact
- A work environment where safety and wellbeing are always the top priorities
- Competitive salary aligned with your skills and experience, plus an annual incentive bonus
- Comprehensive, family-friendly health benefits including medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, life insurance, and optional benefits
- Retirement benefits including up to a 6% company contribution and a generous 401(k) matching program
- Share ownership opportunities
- Flexible and inclusive leave policies, including paid time off, holidays, and bereavement leave
- A supportive parental leave program to help you spend meaningful time with your growing family
- Wellbeing programs, including access to Personify Health and wellness incentives
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering confidential counselling and support for you and your family
