As a leader at Oyu Tolgoi, you will visibly champion safety, health and wellbeing, foster a culture where people feel safe to speak up and challenge constructively, and build a high-performing Compliance team that supports a safe, responsible and sustainable operation.
What the role entails:
- Lead, coach and develop the OT Compliance team, building capability, establishing clear accountability and a high-performing culture aligned with current and emerging integrity risks.
- Lead the implementation, effective operation and continuous improvement of the OT Business Integrity Compliance Program, including monitoring the effectiveness of key processes, systems and controls and providing meaningful insights to senior leadership.
- Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and provide practical, independent advice and constructive challenge on bribery, corruption, fraud and other material business integrity risks.
- Partner with Rio Tinto Ethics & Compliance and the wider Legal and Governance team to ensure alignment with Group priorities, standards and expectations.
- Oversee key elements of the BICP, including third-party due diligence, conflicts of interest, benefits, sponsorships and donations, business integrity declarations, and associated risk mitigation actions.
- Develop and oversee execution of the OT BICP annual strategy, risk priorities and communication plan, including targeted compliance awareness and training programs.
- Work with investigation specialists on significant fraud, misconduct and Code of Conduct matters, and ensure investigation findings, root causes and lessons learned are translated into sustainable program and control improvements.
- Coordinate risk-based monitoring and control verification of key BICP components, identify recurring or systemic issues, and drive timely remediation with accountable business leaders.
- Prepare clear, insightful reports and recommendations for senior leaders, the Audit and Finance Committee and other governance forums, including timely escalation of material compliance risks and issues.
- Engage effectively with auditors, regulators, external advisers and other stakeholders as required, while promoting first-line ownership of integrity risks and practical controls across the business.
What you will need for this role
- Degree in Legal, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or another relevant discipline; a postgraduate qualification or relevant professional Ethics & Compliance qualification is highly regarded.
- Substantial relevant professional experience, including demonstrated experience implementing, operating and continuously improving an ethics, compliance or business integrity program in a complex organisation.
- Demonstrated leadership of professional teams, including coaching, capability development, performance management and building effective, accountable teams.
- Strong practical experience identifying and mitigating bribery, corruption, fraud and broader integrity risks, including experience with key controls such as third-party due diligence, conflicts of interest, benefits/hospitality, sponsorships/donations, monitoring and remediation.
- Experience contributing to significant investigations and translating findings and root causes into sustainable control and program improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to advise, influence and constructively challenge senior executives, and to communicate material compliance matters effectively to Board or Board Committee-level governance forums.
It is also beneficial if you have:
- Experience implementing compliance programs aligned with international anti-bribery and corruption expectations, including the UK Bribery Act and/or US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
- Ethics & Compliance leadership experience in mining, extractives, energy, infrastructure or another operationally complex industry; experience working in emerging or developing markets and across diverse cultures is also highly regarded.
What we offer:
- Be recognized for your contribution, your thinking, and your hard work, and go home knowing you’ve helped the world progress.
- A work environment where safety is always the number one priority
- Excellent career opportunity with one of the world's leading mining organisations
- A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with an annual incentive program
- Private health insurance for employees
- Attractive share ownership plan
- Career development & education assistance to further your technical or leadership ambitions
- Leave for all of life’s reasons (vacation/annual, paid parental, sick leave)
