About the role
We are looking for a Senior Specialist Communication (maternity leave cover) who can support the implementation of our enterprise-wide communications strategy, for our exciting Modern ERP program. This is a great opportunity for a passionate wordsmith and established communications planner, to drive a milestone program that informs, educates, excites and delights our workforce.
Reporting to the Change and Communications Manager, and working in a collaborative, fast-paced and exciting environment, you will be responsible for:

Developing and implementing communications plans as required for the region, in line with program communications plans and schedules – this includes developing collateral including packs, templates, toolkits and newsletters

Writing, editing and supporting content delivery for key messages and programming milestones, leader updates, etc., including posting in channels such as LinkedIn, Viva Engage and SharePoint

Developing and promoting the programs brand identity

Monitoring the effectiveness of communication and making metric-driven recommendations to improve engagement and impact

Building strong relationships across the program, and supporting stakeholders and their teams with any required communications training

Coordinate the translation of content with external vendors and service providers
About you
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

Experience developing and implementing communications plans, with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to take technical content and interpret into easy to digest communications and content, with video and photography skills highly regarded

Layout skills and experience using PPT, ContactMonkey or similar
-
Experience working in transformational programs, ideally those of a digital nature across complex enterprise

A passion for finding better ways, innovation and continuous improvement

You’ll join the Modern ERP Program — a multi‑disciplinary team bringing together technology, process, data and change specialists to reshape how work happens across Rio Tinto. We’re modernising a 20‑year‑old ERP system and redesigning core business processes to improve safety, efficiency and ignite innovation.
This work supports our people across global operations to spend less time on transactional tasks and more time on work that really matters. By simplifying and digitising how the organisation runs, the Modern ERP Program is creating the foundation for future productivity gains, smarter decision‑making and AI‑enabled transformation.
